Sustainability
Due to being an exotic tropical timber, sustainability is an important consideration. The Iroko tree is a plentiful timber species and can be found in a several African regions, namely, Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon and the Ivory Coast.
These regions, through proper maintenance and sustainable forestry practices ensure that Iroko can be used globally as an excellent Teak substitute and an overall exceptional timber product.
Care and Maintenance
Iroko is naturally durable and can be left untreated, even for outdoor use. Over time, exposure to sunlight may cause the wood to weather into a silver-grey colour. To maintain its original lustre, use a UV-protective oil or wood stain.
For cleaning, a mild soap and water solution is sufficient. Avoid harsh chemicals, as these can strip Iroko’s natural oils and reduce its longevity.
