Articles: Cut to Size and Planed Oak Planks
As Oak specialists two of our best selling products are cut to size and planed Oak. These two products allow you to get the right starting point for your project and our Kiln Dried Oak (be it prime or light character) is always high quality.
The difference between cut to size and planed Oak Planks is the finish and the accuracy in the sizes you receive. Cut to size boards have a rough sawn finish on all sides and are supplied in set thicknesses (please note the thickness may not be exact and might be slightly thicker). The timber is then sawn to length and the width that you need. It is standard for boards to be over length and there is a tolerance allowance with the saw.

Kiln dried Oak is ideal for both external and internal joinery because it is both stable and durable. To extend the lifespan of your Oak we recommend treating it in order to stop moisture escaping and entering the wood (this is more important when using the wood externally or in damp environments like bathrooms).
Why Should I buy Oak Planks?
Oak is a great natural resource and is one of the best timbers you can buy. Also unlike the other kiln dried timbers we supply it is available to buy online in two different grades so you can not only decide on the finish but also the look of your timber.
As timbers go Oak is one of the most versatile out there and is more than suitable for most projects, Kiln dried is usually used in joinery and for machined products like oak flooring and decking. If you need structural timber then take a look at the beams section of the website for all of our green and air dried Oak options.
